Are there examples having the “WP” on receiver and barrel Along with the Oval P over the barrel that have an R&R Take note? In that case, do they happen pre-1905 or article-1905 or each?
I picked up on an more mature subject matter/post where others which have said that a barrel getting the “Oval P” might have been fitted by Winchester:
Winchester (according to PR dates) very first commenced using the superposed “WP” Winchester Definitive proof mark in May perhaps 1905, and ongoing to apply it to most models from that point on. In my surveys, I have confirmed that date for the Model 1885, Design 1894, and Product 1897, and I believe that Michael has confirmed the exact same around the Model 1892. Winchester correct from the start marked the two the barrel as well as the receiver.

For barrels & receivers produced right after 1905: Receivers possessing the “WP” proof but no “WP” or “Oval P” proof within the barrel would suggest the barrel was replaced outside of Winchester employing a pre-1905 barrel.
